SPC Card Use

What is SPC Card?

SPC Card is Canada’s most popular student loyalty program providing students with discounts and deals at thousands of retail and restaurant locations across Canada.

How does SPC Card work?

Students show their SPC Card at participating locations to receive instant savings every time they shop. Offers vary by participating partner locations; the most common offers are 10-15% off.

Make sure you sign the back of your card. Merchants will not accept the card if it is not signed or if it is an expired card.

What kind of discounts can I get with the SPC Card?

SPC Card discounts and deals vary from 10-15% off regular or sale priced merchandise. Offers vary by participating businesses and some restrictions do apply. Consult your directory or check the stores and deals page for complete list of participating locations, discounts, deals and offers.

Do I have to be a student to use an SPC Card?

SPC Card is an exclusive student membership program. Any aged student may use an SPC Card including any elementary, junior high school, secondary school, CÉGEP, college, university, private and public academies and schools of special focus or interest (e.g. language schools). Students that are 16 years of age or older may be asked to provide valid student ID in order to be eligible to receive applicable savings. Merchant locations have the right to refuse any discount if student ID is not shown.

Parents may not use the SPC Card on behalf of their student, the child must be present and ONLY the child’s items are eligible for applicable discounts.

Exceptions: VIP SPC Card holders and BMO SPC MasterCard holders do not require student ID

Where can I use my SPC Card?

Students can use their SPC Card at over 100 national retail chains, restaurants and local retailers coast-to-coast. SPC Card is accepted at thousands of locations across Canada. Plus, there are hundreds of local stores specific to your area offering you additional cool savings. Support your local businesses and visit them today. Does the SPC Card have an expiry date?

Your SPC Card is valid for twelve months, from August 1 until July 31 the following year. Each year a new SPC Card must be purchased. The expiry date is printed on the front of the SPC Card and does not change regardless of the date of purchase.

Exception: BMO SPC MasterCard expiry date varies and is printed on the credit card

When making a purchase with my SPC Card, do I have to show my student ID?

SPC Card merchants have the right to ask for student ID to ensure that the person using the card is a student. If you cannot provide a valid student ID, your discount may be refused.
Exceptions: VIP SPC Card holders, BMO SPC MasterCard holders and students under 16 do not require student ID

Can I share my SPC Card?

NO. SPC Cards may not be shared and are non-transferable. Terms of use Card sharing is strictly prohibited and constitutes fraud. Any cardholder who shares their SPC Card will have their privileges revoked. In addition, SPC Card partners have the right to seize a card if it is used by someone:

  • Other than the person whose signature appears on the back of the card
  • Who is not a student

What to do if my SPC Card is lost or stolen?

SPC Card does not replace lost or stolen cards.

What happens if I move to another province in Canada?

SPC Card is valid across Canada regardless of which province the card was purchased in. Visit the stores and deals section for a complete list of participating retailers in your area.

What is a VIP SPC Card?

The VIP SPC Card is a limited edition promotional card. They are not for sale and cannot be renewed. VIP SPC Cards do not require student ID.

Why should I register my SPC Card?

You must register your new SPC Card in order to receive weekly deals and contests by email, to have access to exclusive shopping events and special promotions and for a chance to win 1 of 3 iPads. The contest rules can be found here.

How do I register?

Click here to register your new SPC Card and fill out the online registration form. Please add spclive.com and spccard.ca to your safe domain list in your email account. Registration cannot be done by phone.

Can I use my card before I register?

Yes, SPC Cards may be used without registration however you will not be eligible to receive the full benefits of the SPC Card program.

I forgot my password?

How do I get discounts with my BMO SPC MasterCard?

Get discounts from SPC Card retailers and restaurants when you pay with your BMO SPC MasterCard. When paying with your BMO SPC MasterCard you must notify the cashier BEFORE paying that you qualify for your discount. Please ensure that your discount has been applied at the point of sale. At places that do not accept MasterCard you only need to show your BMO SPC MasterCard for the discount and then pay with cash or debit.
